Mathematics
The Mathematics Department is a team of three full time teachers of Mathematics and one part-time teacher who also has teaching commitments within the Science department.
All members of of the Mathematics team are committed to the principle that pupils should leave Tenbury High School having had a positive experience of Mathematics and achieving a qualification that reflects their ability.
Textbooks used
Key Stage 3
Currently the main textbook used thoughout Key Stage 3 is Collins Maths Frameworking which has been incorporated into the Department's schemes of work along with supporting activities.
Pupils use the practice books from this scheme for homework.
NB This will be reviewed as more information about the new Key Stage 3 curriculum is available.
Key Stage 4
The textbook used thoughout Key Stage 4 Hodder Murray GCSE Mathematics for Edexcel which comes with supporting CD. The Department is currently developing a scheme of work that takes account of recent changes to GCSE requirements.
Pupils use the homework book which has a Personal Tutor CD.

A new, revised syllabus starts in September 2010. The syllabus information is unavailable at the present time but will be made available to students as soon as possible.
Time Allocation:
3 hours per week
Future Education Opportunities:
GCSE Statistics, AS & A Level Mathematics & Statistics, Further Mathematics. A good grade (C or above) is often required in order to pursue a career or training in other areas, e.g. Nursing, Teaching in general, Armed Forces etc.
